One of the most synonymous images Simion associates with the mid-century period is the romanticised painting of a woman gazing wistfully into the distance. We have all seen them; the classic pin-ups that adorned living room walls up and down the country in the 1960s.
Louis Shabner began his career producing shop window advertising for brands such as Ever Ready, Ovaltine and Chivers jams, amongst others, but is best known for his paintings of sultry sirens. Now Shabner’s work - often mentioned in the same breath as that of contemporaries Vladimir Tretchikoff and J H Lynch - is highly sought-after by collectors.
