Guy Rogers Virginia lounge chair

A Guy Rogers 1970’s chair was another rare treat to come through our studio.  It was a treat in as much as we restored and upholstered a matching pair of ‘Virginia’ lounge chairs.

As part of the Reloved makeover, we stripped the chair right back.  All the Pirelli webbing was replaced to the seat and we also restored and rejuvenated the afromosia teak frame using the latest product from our new paint and wax range.  Dirty wax not only protects and adds character to the wood, it give is a sumptuous antique finish. Watch out for more on this new line of products in the coming weeks.

Next step was replace the cushions and upholster. The client chose a great fabric from one of our favourite ranges. Kirkby Design leaf recycled 100% wool.  This grey fabric has a slight cross pattern that really complements the dark teak wood. We made new bespoke cushions with A-grade reflex foam for the seat and the back. Three buttons were added to the back as per the original design.

Delighted with this final look of the chairs, we are very pleased to say to the customer was also very happy. They now sit pride of place  in their living room.

Unfortunately, little is known about Guy Rogers.  The Guy Rogers Ltd was based in Speke, Liverpool and the company supplied high-end furniture stores across the UK and London’s Heals throughout the 60’s and 70’s. It’s believed that the factory closed in the 1980’s. Despite this, furniture manufactured by the brand is becoming quite sought after. We hope to see more of these chairs come through the workshop soon.
