Pantone colour of the year 2017: Greenery

This week Pantone announced the colour of the year for 2017.  For those waiting in anticipation of what’s going to be hot in 2017, you’ll be delighted to know it is the vibrant Greenery 15-0343.

This zesty colour evokes nature, new beginnings and springtime.

Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Colour Institute said: “Greenery bursts forth in 2017 to provide us with the reassurance we yearn for amid a tumultuous social and political environment. Satisfying our own growing desire to rejuvenate and revitalise, Greenery symbolizes the reconnection we seek with nature, one another and a larger purpose.”

But what is Pantone Colour of the year?

Annually, the colour institute advises the the world’s design industries on the use of colour and has been choosing a colour of the year since 1999.

Colours are chosen as ‘snapshot of what we see taking place in our global culture that serves as an expression of a mood and an attitude’.

Previous colours of the year include:

  • Serenity 15-3919 and Rose Quartz 13-1520 (2016)
  • Marsala 18-1438  (2015)
  • Radiant Orchid 18-3224 (2014)

We love this bright colour, we already have a selection of Ercol upholstery in a fabulous fresh green from Kirkby Design’s leaf range. If you want to bring a touch of 2017’s Greenery to your vintage furniture. Get in touch.
