Vintage Ercol: Blonde wood sofa and chairs

This week, we’re going back to our roots and working with our old favourite Vintage Ercol pieces. And, for the first time we’re working with a new fabric designer, Eleanor Pritchard.

Vintage Ercol chairs and sofa – the restoration

This was a commission piece for the owners of Object Style in Manchester.  The restoration of these gorgeous Ercol Windsor items began with the removal of the tired old cushions and covers.  Before cleaning up the wood frames by sanding and waxing to bring them back to a beautiful, soft blonde. The Pirelli webbing and dowel was also replaced, taking it back to it’s original form.
For this project we used Totley fabric by Eleanor Pritchard on one chair. A complimentary orange wool by Bute was used on the sofa to compliment the Totley colour and design. Scatter cushions are also in Totley, using the reverse side of the fabric.

About Eleanor Pritchard

A British weave designer, Eleanor Pritchard creates beautiful wool blankets using traditional techniques. Designs are sampled on a vintage dobby loom at her South-East London studio before being woven at one of the last remaining woollen mills in Wales.  And luckily for us, she now has fabric made by renowned heritage brand Bute. We also restored a second  chair using Bute wool cloth in yellow.
